Journalism in action:
Skills for cultivating mobile journalism
Journalism and Communication Studies students will explore how to make the most of their mobile devices to create stories for social media that can be shared directly with audiences through new forms of storytelling. This course will also present best practices for communicating science effectively on social media, especially on science topics that attract misinformation. Finally, participants will have the opportunity to explore a tool that allows drafting, scheduling and monitoring engagement on threaded social media posts on Twitter.

By the end of this course, students will:
- know various tools used in mobile journalism
- learn best practices for writing online explanations that correct misinformation
- create their own threaded posts for social media
